On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the University of Fujairah hosted the third edition of its Sustainability Research Competition for school students in a vibrant academic setting.
A total of 46 schools participated, submitting over 214 projects presented by more than 600 male and female students.
The students developed their research projects with a strong focus on the competition’s sectors, which encompass all areas related to sustainability and its practical applications. They also took into account the judging criteria, which included the level of innovation, feasibility of implementation, presentation quality, and project design.
During the opening ceremony, the university’s president, H.E. Dr. Sulaiman Al Jasem, delivered a welcome speech in which he emphasized the importance of such competitions in promoting sustainability principles in everyday life. He also highlighted the value of school participation in meaningful events like this, which aim to raise awareness and enhance students’ capabilities in the field of sustainability.
Following that, Dr. Yomna Shaker, the competition’s general coordinator, gave a reminder to the participants about the judging criteria.
The contestants then moved to their presentation booths to receive the judges. The event concluded with the announcement of the winning projects and the distribution of in-kind prizes and certificates of appreciation.
