In line with enhancing cooperation between educational and community institutions, Dr. Faisal Ibrahim Matalka, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities and faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the University of Fujairah, participated in the activities of the Ramadan Forum for Drug Prevention. The event was recently held at Al Mazlat Beach in Fujairah on Thursday, March 13, 2025.
Dr. Matlaka's participation came at the invitation of Brigadier Khaled Al Saadi, Head of the Drug Control Department at Fujairah Police Directorate. The forum, organized by the Ministry of Interior represented by the Federal General Administration for Drug Control, in cooperation with the Fujairah Police Directorate, witnessed a large turnout and significant interaction from various segments of society. The forum focused on raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and promoting positive values among youth through dialogue sessions and interactive workshops aimed at educating the community on ways to prevent this serious phenomenon.
The forum's activities included a number of educational dialogue sessions that emphasized methods of drug prevention through proper upbringing and continuous communication with children.
This participation is part of the ongoing collaboration between Fujairah Police Directorate and the University of Fujairah, as both parties seek to provide a comprehensive awareness experience that combines the university's academic educational role with its community awareness and community service role. This contributes to community engagement and achieves the university's goals in serving the community.
