The Nursing College at the University of Fujairah organized a comprehensive awareness campaign on breast cancer at the Fujairah City Centre, led by Dr. Corinne van Belkum, the college dean, with the supervision of faculty members and participation from the college students. The campaign focused on raising community awareness about the importance of early detection of the disease and prevention methods.
In his remarks about the initiative, the Chancellor, Prof. Ghassan Al-Qaimari, emphasized the importance of such campaigns in enhancing health awareness within the community, commending the efforts of the Nursing College, faculty members, and students in organizing this effective event. He added, “The University of Fujairah is committed to its role in serving the community, and we continuously work to support initiatives that contribute to improving community health and wellness.”
The event attracted more than 126 participants from various demographics, including men and children, who engaged with interactive demonstrations. One of the highlights was a wearable model for self-breast examination, designed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection. Additionally, college students and faculty members provided health screenings, including vital signs and body mass index (BMI) measurements, aimed at promoting a comprehensive understanding of health.
