University of Fujairah Opens a Branch of the Confucius Institute to promote Chinese language

His Excellency Saeed Bin Mohammed Al Raqabani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of University of Fujairah, opened a Chinese Language Learning Center operated by Confucius Institute in the Fujairah Digital Library. The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Ou Boqian, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, Dr. Eesa Bastaki, The President of the University of Dubai, Prof. Ghassan Al-Qaimari, The University of Fujairah Chancellor, and Mr. Youssef Al-Marshoodi, General Manager of Fujairah Charity Association, along with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Fujairah, Deans of colleges, a distinguished Chinese delegation, along with members of the local community.

His Excellency Saeed Al Raqabani emphasized that the opening of the center represents a valuable addition not only for the University of Fujairah students but also for individuals outside the university interested in learning the Chinese language. He further noted that the University of Fujairah consistently encourages its students to acquire languages of global significance, broadening their intellectual and creative horizons while fostering openness to diverse cultures.

His Excellency Saeed Al Raqbani added that this collaboration reflects Fujairah University’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange and knowledge-sharing between nations, paving the way for new avenues of cooperation in education and scientific research.

Dr. Dai Jingjing, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dubai, stated that this collaboration represents the shared vision of fostering cultural exchange and educational cooperation between the University of Fujairah and the Confucius Institute. She noted that the partnership is expected to attract individuals from diverse segments of the community who are eager to learn the Chinese language and to exploring the richness of Chinese civilization. Dr. Dai further emphasized that the collaboration seeks to deepen the bonds of friendship between China and the United Arab Emirates.

Confucius Institute has more than 500 branches in more than 140 countries around the world. The institute offers Chinese language courses at various levels and organizes tests to measure language proficiency. It also holds workshops and cultural events highlighting Chinese heritage and arts.
