CoC organized a dialogue session titled “The Theater is a Mirror of Society”

The College of Communication at the University of Fujairah organized a dialogue session titled “The Social and Cultural Dimension of Emirati Theater,” with the slogan “The Theater is a Mirror of Society.” This was part of the preparation for graduation projects for final-year students in the College of Communication. The dialogue session was moderated by students Suleiman Obaid Al Shamsi and Abdulaziz Hussein Al Juhari.

The session was supervised by the Dean of the College of Communication, Dr. Mohammed Malik, and attended by a number of theater actors and directors, including Abdullah Rashid Al Zhanhani and Abdullah Masoud, in addition to faculty members of the college and students.

The main focus of the session was on the strategic dimensions of theater through presenting the pioneering experience of Emirati theater within its historical context and highlighting the leading role of theater in shaping the community’s identity through symbolic messages with a cultural dimension.

The session witnessed qualitative interventions from a select group of faculty members from the College of Communication who addressed various issues related to modern theater. They discussed the effects of modern technology and new media on theater, the rapid evolution in the media landscape, and the potential employment of communication in the service of theater. Additionally, there was a discussion on the analysis and reasons for the audience’s disengagement from theater, along with several recommendations on this matter.
