The College of Communication at the University of Fujairah celebrated World Radio Day

The College of Communication at the University of Fujairah celebrated the World Radio Day, which falls on February 13th every year. UNESCO has dedicated this international occasion to the theme “Radio and Peace.” The celebration was attended by Prof. Sameh Ghwanmeh, the university’s director, academic staff, and students from the College of Communication and other colleges.

As part of this celebration, the College of Communication hosted the renowned broadcaster and media personality, Mr. Rashid Al-Kharji, who is a producer and presenter of live broadcast programs at Noor Dubai Radio, and Dr. Ali Al-Zahawi, a media figure. The dialogue between the guests and the attendees lasted for over an hour.

The university director emphasized that today’s celebration is an acknowledgment of the great media models in the United Arab Emirates and a tribute to them for all that they have offered and continue to offer in terms of truth, credibility, high professionalism, and objectivity. He also noted that the College of Communication keeps pace with developments in the world of media and communications and has taken it upon itself to graduate students armed with the knowledge and skills needed by the job market.

Mr. Rashid Al-Kharji discussed the tremendous development in radio work under the technological advancements, stressing the importance of equipping students with knowledge and expertise to climb the ladder of the media profession with love for the field and a commitment to serving the public. Media figure Dr. Ali Al-Zahawi added in his remarks that the Emirati radio plays and still plays a significant awareness and guidance role for the public. Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammed Malik, the Dean of the College of Communication, confirmed that the college continuously works to develop its programs to meet the requirements of the media profession in a competitive local and international environment.

At the end of the ceremony, the university director honored the guests as an appreciation of their prominent role and efforts in the field of media, wishing them continued success in their noble mission and their role in enriching the media scene.
